GREAT SESSION @ North Shore Spain

This weekend our riders Rui Ferreira, Simon Murphy and Fran Aguilar scored a very good session somewhere in the spanish north coastline. There was a very big swell and the conditions were too heavy in the spot. Every set, the lips got thicker and ticker and the ramps more vertical. The "in-the-air" take-offs were nearest the only way to go for any wave. Here some pics of the session

NAZARE SPECIAL EDITION 2009

José Otavio and Rui Ferreira scored the 2nd and 5th place respectively in this last edition of the Nazaré Special Edition

PRESS RELEASE:

After 14 days of waiting, Praia do Norte didn’t scam the expectations of the more than one thousand people that went to the beach to watch the fourth edition of Sumol Nazaré Special Edition.

Mike Stewart was the big winner of this edition, in a podium where the international presences had eminence. The athlete was very “surprised, and, at the same time, happy for winning this contest in the first time competing”. The Brazilian José Otávio won the second place. “I’m very happy for the second place in a contest with such a high level”, he said. The third place was given to Jaime Jesus, considered the best Portuguese in the contest.

After some qualm of some athletes due to the initial sea prediction, the stormy waves of the day before were replaced by a sunny day that allowed an excellent show of air maneuvers, huge drops and even some impossible tubes.

Luís “Porkito” Pereira surfed an unforgettable wave that was punctuated with ten points. The athletehas done a 360º inside a tube, followed by a huge invert air. Porkito won the last two editions and showed all his courage and determination, although he got the seventh place in the contest.

Although Mike Stewart didn’t have any extraordinary maneuver, the athlete showed big regularity during the entire contest, reason why he took the first place back to Hawaii.

The organization considers that this fourth edition was a big success in what concerns to public affluence, not only local presences at the beach but also through webcasting at the website.

Ruizinho & Jonan win the Sopelana stage of Circuito Vasco

Last weekend took place @ Sopelana the first stop of the Circuito Vasco (Basque Tour) challenge. With more than a hundred competitors, the event went very sunny both saturday and sunday. Still the lack of waves, both Rui Ferreira & Jon Ander Bengoetxea managed to get #1 place in the Open B and Open A category respectively, showing much respect at their local beach break. Congratulations. In this way, Jonan takes the lead of the circuit with two more stages remaining.

Session Report: Summer is here!

By Simon Murphy:
Well summer is definitely on its way...today was nearly 30 degs, skies were blue and a small swell meant the fun peaky shorebreaks of Sopelana were on the cards. Whilst the banks were abit funky and the swell was only 2ft it was a chance to let loose and enjoy the warmth! Joined by local chargers Javi and Iban a fun session was had by myself and Roo dog. Heres a few pics taken by myself and Roo dog from the session.....hope ya´s like! There´s a comp on this weekend so could be fun for the local Basko team....but for me Im heading south to a Bodega to drink, eat, drink, eat and drink some more....until next time Simmo”

RESPECT-ful SHOW at Bahia!

... and finally there was show. Fabio Rodrigues, our Brazilian loco a.k.a. Macaco, achieved the 3rd place on the third event of the IBA World Tour. Unfortunately, he was defeated by the 6x World Champion Guilherme Tamega, by no more than 0,75 points. But it doesn´t stop here. Rui Ferreira and Emiliano Tabaré both scored the #9 place. Certainly a RESPECT-ful show!
