Quick Words With Renan Faccini

1 – How was it in Arica with all the pros? It felt normal and I was not afraid to catch the big ones, those who catched the bigger and better waves were the ones that went to the next heat. 2 – Do you think you were prepared for the El Gringo Wave? My surf was prepared for the size and strength of the wave, but not the trimming. I lost my documents in Peru and was unable to cross the border to Chile. I wasted valueble time and then when I arrived it was already crowded and I didn´t catch many waves. 3 – Are you going to attend more international events? I´m going to Mexico, Spain and The Canaries, to free surf and competition. 4 – What board do you ride? In Peru I used a Respecto Grommet 2010 40” and in Chile I used uma Eric Gamez Usual 40. 5 – Do you consider yourself a brasilian PLC? I don´t know, he is very skilled athlete, but I don´t want to compare to anybodyelse, I want to have my own and unique style.

Last Chance

Photos: Portal Dêxa Jose Otavio, after the 2nd place in round 1, only manage to obtain one point in round 2. With five points he is on the top of the half bottom of the rankings. In round 3 he must score at least a second place and still it´s not a safe situation. With a first place it´s guaranteed a place on the Man vs Man round, but it´s a hard task to face guys like Mike Stweart, Damien King and Jarred Houston... Go José! ---- Update: Anyone has a calculator?

Jose Otavio - Quick Words

FotoSurf: Tony D.Andrea ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With the lay day we exchanged a few words with Jose Otavio. Respect - Jose your surf is powerfull and you are used to Itacoatiara, are you confident that you can beat any rider of the GSS? Otavio - All the riders of the GSS are excellent, with this level anybody can win, but I think a good choice of waves and clinching the critical manouveurs can help me win. Respect - How do you describe the El Gringo Wave? Otavio - It´s perfect for bodyboard, like a tube, beautiful to make some manouveurs and very powerfull. One of the best waves of the circuit. Respect - What is the major difference with Itacoatiara? Otavio - It is very different, the reef makes all the difference and makes the wave perfect. The water in Chile is very cold and that´s the big difference from Brasil. In Chile there´s big waves all the time! Respect - Are you going to participate in more IBA Events? Otavio - I´m planning to go to Mexico and some European events, maybe the Canaries, we´ll see... Respect - What about Praia do Norte (Nazaré, Portugal)? Otavio - It´s impressive, very big, large tubes, awesome ramps, one of the best in Portugal. I´m forward to surf there again. Obrigado Jose Otavio
